You Want to Move Up in Life, Drop Greed.

I remember reading a moving story from God's little devotional book on success about a young man called Armstrong. At 16 Armstrong Williams was just beginning to drive and like every other teenager, jumps at every errand that involves accomplishing with the family car. One day, he was sent to the store by his father to buy wire and fencing for their farm. This of course involves him using the family pickup. He quickly jumped at it. Though Armstrong enjoys going on such errand, on this particular day his spirit were dampened. His father had told him to get goods on credit. To Armstrong, the consequence of getting the goods on credit had killed the joy of zooming off in the family pickup.
Armstrong had in the time past seen the treatment handed to his black friends when they asked for credit from any of the shops. The shop owners will always question the credit worthiness of such request. But as it stands Armstrong had no choice but to obey his father.
He went to the shop, collected the goods and cautiously requested for credit. "I need to put this on credit" he said. The owner of the shop standing next to him gave him an amused, cynical look, yet his face didn't change. "Sure," he said easily. "Your daddy is always good for it." Then he turned to a friend standing next to him and declared. "This here is one of James Williams' son." The friend nodded in agreement and young Armstrong was filled with pride.
Just the three words did the magic. It had opened a door to an adult's respect. Those words James Williams' son was all he needed. Dear reader, will it be possible for people to make such references to your kids tomorrow? Will generations unborn be proud to be associated with your name?
Most of us today are so greedy of material things that we can do anything to acquire them without any effort to think about tomorrow. Greed comes out of poor self-esteem, which manifests itself as false pride, pretense or keeping up with the neighbors. The way out of greed is to learn to live within your means and be satisfied. Being contended dose not mean lacking ambition.
Becoming rich and famous dose not guarantee a good name. If it did, some multimillionaires would not be where they are today. Obviously, it is time we come to terms with the fact that a good name carries with the fact that a good name carries with it a lot.

You Need the Right Information to Move Up in Life.

The story goes that every day a man would set his watch by the clock in a jewelry store window. One day the jeweler stopped the man and said, "I see you set your watch by my clock. What kind of work do you do that demands such correct time every day?"

"I'm the watchman at the plant down the street," the man replied. "Every day I blow the five o'clock whistle."

"But...you can't do that," said the surprised jeweler. "I set my clock by your whistle!" It then means that everybody in that city operates with a wrong time. Just for the simple lack of correct information. What a disaster?

Dear reader, you can't grow if you lack information. No matter your title or position in the society, if you are not current, you will be swept away by the roaring wave. Some will tell you that there is no time to learn more while others will complain that it's expensive to get fresh information. I wonder which is more expensive: to learn more and grow in chosen profession or to remain stagnant.

No one knows all. So from time to time we need to learn from others and in turn give back what we know. If we don't take time to refresh our minds, it's bound to become blunt. Like the story of John the woodcutter.

John worked for a company for five years but never got raise. The company hired Bill and within a year he got a raise. This caused resentment in John and he went to his boss to talk about it. The boss said, "You are still cutting the same number of trees you were cutting five years ago. We are a result oriented company and would be happy to give you a raise if your productivity goes up."

John went back, started hitting harder and putting in longer hours but he still wasn't able to cut more trees. He went back to his boss and told him his dilemma. The boss told him to go talk to Bill. "May be there is something he knows that you and don't"

John asks Bill how he manages to cut more trees. Bill answered, "After every tree I cut, I take a break for two minutes and sharpen my axe. When was the last time you sharpen your axe?" This question hit home like a bullet and John got his answer.

Dear readers, you can only get to the peak of your chosen field if you take time out to learn something new in your chosen profession. The world keeps changing at a very fast pace, therefore you need to keep abreast with the current things happening in your industry. You are directly or indirectly responsible for whatever happens in your life. Some make it count.

with GOD you can do it. yes you can

Wilma Rudolph was born a poor home in Tennessee. At age four she had double pneumonia with scarlet fever, a deadly combination which left her paralyzed with polio. She had to wear a brace and the doctors said she would never put her foot on the earth. But her mother encouraged. She told Wilma that with GOD- given ability persistence and faith, she could do anything she wanted. Wilma said I wanted to be the fastest woman on the track on this earth. At the age of nine, against the advice of the doctors, she removed the brace and took her fist step the doctors had said she never would. At the age of 13 she entered for her first race and came way, way last. Then she entered for her second third and fourth and she came way, way last until a day came when she came first.

At the age of 15 she went to Tennessee state university where she met a coach by the name Ed Temple. She told him I want to be the fastest woman on the track on this earth. Temple said with your spirit nobody can stop you and I will help you.

The day came when she was at the Olympics. And at the Olympics you are matched with the best of the best. Wilma was matched against a woman named jutta gein who have never been beaten before. The first event was the 100 meter race Wilma beat jutta and won her first gold medal. The second event was the 200-meter race and Wilma beat jutta the second time and won her second gold medal. The third event was the 400-meter relay and she was racing against jutta one more time in the relay the fastest person always run the last lap and the both anchored their teams. The first three people ran and change the baton easily. When it came to the turn of Wilma she dropped the baton. But when Wilma saw jutta shoot up at the other end, she picked the baton and ran like a machine, beat jutta a third time and won her third gold medal. It became history that a paralytic woman became the fastest woman on this earth at the 1960 Olympics. We need to learn from nature. According to scientists, the bumblebees’ body is too heavy and its wingspan too small. Aerodynamically, the bumblebee cannot fly but the bumblebee doesn’t know that she keeps flying.

Read the life history of people who have turned negative into positive, adversity into advantage, stumbling blocks into stepping-stone. They refused to let disappointment and failures pull them down.

If anybody can, it is you. Whatever that scar maybe, now is the time to turn it into a star. Henry ford said I’m looking for a lot of men with the infinite capacity for not knowing what cannot be done. If bumblebees can fly, You, I men you, can turn any situation to your advantage. So, Go ahead and do it.
